PACE Software

PACE (Pipeline for Advanced Contrast Enhancement) is a tool developed by the multidisciplinary team of researchers from INGV, University of Messina, and University of Catania. The idea of the development of this software was born from the need to solve problems of graphical representation by optimizing the contrast of chest X-ray images as much as possible. The tool will support radiologists in evaluating low quality CXRs. In fact, the algorithm combines state-of-the-art numerical image processing applications such as two-dimensional empirical decomposition, homomorphic filtering, and adaptive histogram equalization in an appropriate way.
